How can I propogate creeping phlox in my garden?
This stuff is easy to do. I just did up a chunk, make sure there are a few roots on it , loosen up dirt where I'm going to put it and set it down. Then throw a little loose dirt on top of it. Once I just put little pieces of it (like two strands) all along my hedges and by the next year it was a site to behold. Did it in the fall. By the way I'm from N.Y. zone 5 too.
Reply:It's easy...I just chop off a chunk with the shovel...getting roots as well....clear back a little soil from the planting site and place it ,...throw a little dirt on top of it and water it...if you keep it watered even in the hottest part of summer it won't dry up and turn brown and yucky...it will stay green and lush...it really spreads well and makes a great ground cover mixed with daisies, iris' day lilies,roses.zinnias,mums...you name it.
Reply:It does root pretty easily, but be careful! After a while, you can't get rid of the stuff.
